Star Dance Company

Dancers must attend the SDC Audition Workshop and SDC Auditions. Dancers will be selected for SDC based on skill level; past competition dedication and experience (if applicable); past class and rehearsal attendance (if applicable); and work ethic.

Dancers can choose which audition workshop classes and auditions they want to attend; however, we recommend dancers participate in all styles.

After the auditions, selected dancers and their parent(s) are required to attend a SDC Orientation meeting, where we will thoroughly go over all requirements and expectations for dancers and families. Each dancer and parent will be required to sign the SDC Agreement to solidify commitment and dedication, and for each dancer and their families to feel confident in their choice to be a part of SDC. A few things we will be asking of you and your dancers:

We ask that, after family and education, SDC is each dancers’ first priority over every other extra curricular activity.

Faculty and dancers spend a lot of time in the studio putting in hard work every single week to improve. Families spend a lot of money for dancers to spend a lot of time in the classroom putting in hard work.

Dancers selected for the Star Dance Company will be required to enroll in TWO Fuzion Summer Classes OR Camp JOY and ONE Fuzion Summer Class. Dancers can choose the style of dance they would like to take for their summer classes.

Choreography Workshops will be held throughout the month of August. A schedule will be emailed along with Audition Results (and an abundance of other information) within 3 weeks following auditions. Please note that the Choreography Workshops will consist of 2, 2-hour sessions for each style of dance and must be a priority. The Workshop Fee is $50 for each dance the dancer is placed in. Fees are due August 1 and will be auto debited from your card on file.

SDC Dancers will be required to attend the following:

1 In-Studio Convention (Fuzion School of Dance)
1 Convention (Kansas City)
2-3 Competitions (Topeka ONLY)
  Star Dance Plus - dancers selected for Star Dance Plus dances will attend 1-2 KC competitions in addition to the previous requirements
OPTIONAL: Nationals Convention and Competition
Ideally, Competition and Convention dates will be set by the end of August.

Competition & Convention Fees:

• • Convention Fees: $200-$350/dancer/per convention
•     There are NO refunds for Convention Fees
• • Competition Entry Fees: $80-100/dancer/dance/competition
•     There are NO refunds for Competition Entry Fees.

Families are responsible for transporting their dancers to the convention and/or competition venue, as well as necessary hotel arrangements.

Costumes
Dancers are required to purchase a costume for each SDC dance they are selected to be in. Shoes, tights and accessories are an additional cost and the responsibility of the families.

Costume Fees

• • $150 per costume
•     There are NO refunds for Costume Fees
•     If the full costume fee is not used, a credit will be applied to your account in March.

Make-up
Specific make-up is required and families will be responsible for purchasing and practicing the make-up routine. More make-up details will be provided at SDC Orientation.

SDC dancers will be required to participate in a competition showcase and dress rehearsal. The date will be determined after the competition schedule is set. More details will be available as soon as dates are set.

SDC dancers are required to enroll in specific technique classes based on the dances they are placed in. Dancers will be automatically enrolled in the required classes. If any dancer chooses to add a class to their schedule, visit the parent portal or email kelly.fuzion@gmail.com. The 23-24 schedule and tuition scale will be posted soon.

Class Requirements

Dancers will perform their competition dances in Fuzion’s annual end-of-the-season recital, held at a location TBD in the spring of 2024. Dates and details will be announced as soon as they are scheduled.

Dancers will be required to buy a Star Dance Company team jacket (approx: $100) and a class uniform (TBD). Order will be due at SDC Orientation.

August Rehearsal Fees: Due August 1

Monthly Tuition (includes tuition and rehearsal fees): Due on the FIRST of each month September-May

Studio Admin Fee: Due March 15

Extra Fees (includes showcase fees, costume fees, convention fees, entry fees):

• IN FULL: 5% discount, must be paid in cash or check, due August 15
• 8 Month Payment Plan: Due the FIFTEENTH of each month August-March

Cost Breakdown: Families will be provided with a Cost Breakdown at the SDC Orientation. Cost breakdowns will include all costs for the year and due dates. NOTE: Cost Breakdowns will NOT include any solo fees or nationals fees.

Dancers are allowed a total of four (4) absences in each of their SDC technique classes and rehearsals. If a dancer acquires more than the allowed 4 absences in a SDC rehearsal, the dancer will be removed from the dance. There will NOT be a make-up option for rehearsals. If a dancer is removed from a dance due to absences, there will be no refunds on any tuition, extra fees, or studio admin. If a dancer acquires more than the allowed 4 absences in a SDC technique class, dancers will be required to make up the classes within 2 weeks of the absence in the corresponding technique style. Dancers will be responsible for completing and submitting a class make-up form.
